Rural mountain communities in Tajikistan are poised to benefit from their spectacular settings, but to do so they need the ability to increase tourism and capture tourist dollars coming through their areas. We will research and explore the possibility of working together with mountain communities to improve their ability to market and operate tourism-related businesses. Rural communities lose many men who leave to find work elsewhere, often abroad, to provide for their families. Our long term aim is to keep families together by providing more economic opportunities in rural communities. This exploratory project is a first step toward that goal . 

This project is aligned with the ideals expressed in Government Decree No. 372, the Development Strategy of Tourism in the Republic of Tajikistan for the Period Till 2030.
